6/25

Today I went to the Plone CMS site and downloaded the program, I then watched a few of the videos that were on the site explaining it. Talking about how to make and article and edit member information. It seemed like pretty basic web techniques and usability, but I am interested with what I can do with it.
After that I reread the wikipedia article about The Divine Comedy and then I proceeded to search for images of the different circles of heaven, hell and purgatory. I also found a site that asks you questions about yourself to determine which circle of hell you will end up in ( i guess no one goes to heaven...) http://www.4degreez.com/misc/dante-inferno-test.mv It gives a paragraph that's pretty descriptive of each level.
I then decided to check out second life and see how well I could make a statue to put in one of the levels. I decided to take a crack at making a cerberus, the three headed dog beast that is in the gluttony level of inferno.

getting started 6/20/07

This blog is for my summer 2007 internship with Professor Gerry Santoro. I will be working on and with Second Life, and figuring out all it has to offer and to make it a useful tool in the world of tomorrow. I will also be working on the Neo-dante project, which is a set of 3 towers in Second Life that represent the 3 realms of the after life according to Dante in "The Divine Comedy".

For my first assignment, I downloaded several web based tutorials so that they can be useful to everyone that would need them that could not get access to them otherwise. I will be burning them each on their own individual CD and Ill burn a root dir since all of them total is only around 500MB. There is a trick to making them work though. You need to copy them off of the CD and on to your computer in the C: drive. This is the only way they will run because of a .cfg file that has a starting path for the .exe to work. Ill see if there is anyway around that before I go see Gerry for tomorrows 12:00 meeting.
